Sharing timely adaptation and resilience (A&R) info
June 30, 2025

The CO2 Foundation offers funding to address the root causes of extreme weather events exacerbated by climate change, as well as adapting and developing resilience to these phenomena. The dramatic ongoing assault on the research, policymaking and communications of the adaptation and resilience (A&R) community introduces immediate threats in the field.

Information deficits at this moment will reduce A&R professionals’ ability to discuss pressing issues and establish a clear path forward, recognize and fully grasp local problems and their urgency, and lead effective public engagement. In addition, false narratives that aren’t effectively countered further undermine efforts to advance adaptation and resilience.

America Adapts is a podcast that has created an audience community of academics, policymakers, researchers, advocates and climate curious people who want to know the state of play: what is happening, what is at stake, how the community will organize to move forward. As host Doug Parsons recently announced in this teaser, the CO2 Foundation is funding the following episodes:

  • Adaptation Without a Lifeline: Where to Find Resources When the Feds Disappear
  • The Future of Climate Insurance: Who Will Protect Communities from Financial Collapse?
  • Can Cities Build Their Own Resilience Without Federal Support?

The destabilization of government support and neglect or elimination of critical government functions carries significant risks for local communities. Government apathy—or outright hostility—defeats collective effort and erodes institutional knowledge and expertise, paving the way for disastrous outcomes. With the support of the CO2 Foundation, America Adapts aims to bridge the gap, uniting communities to anticipate and address long-term threats.
