The unofficial world premiere of The Here Now Project, a Siskel Jacobs production supported by the CO2 Foundation, occurred in January. The Swiss nonprofit Green Up sponsored a Climate Hub at the annual World Economic Forum convening in Davos, and the film was shown as part of this series of events.
According to the filmmakers, “Davos was surreal but pretty spectacular! All in all, a big boost of momentum!”
The screening started with an effusive introduction by M. Sanjayan, the CEO of Conservation International, and was followed by a panel moderated by Megan Scarsella of the Eleven Eleven Foundation that included Greg Jacobs, Shyla Raghav (Chief Climate Officer at Time), and Patricia Zurita (Conservation International’s Chief Strategy Officer).
Siskel Jacobs reported back that “the response to the film was overwhelmingly positive—people really seemed to get both the approach and its potential for impact, and were eager to help connect us to potential distribution and funding opportunities.”
The “official” world premiere for The Here Now Project is at Hot Docs in Toronto in late April. Check out the Hot Docs film trailer here.
The Foundation continues to explore innovative ways of connecting people with extreme weather impacts, informing decision-making and inspiring responses that address the causes and consequences of climate change. We’re thrilled to see The Here Now Project making waves internationally, and look forward to finding new opportunities to support this team’s work.
