Countering false narratives before they take hold
October 17, 2025

The CO2 Foundation is proud to be supporting the content creation and monitoring and evaluation work of GoodPower — formerly Action for the Climate Emergency (ACE) — as it empowers humanity to accelerate the global transition to a decarbonized economy.

As CEO Leah Qusba put it in a recent LinkedIn post,

“Across the US and around the world, families are living paycheck to paycheck, struggling to cover food, housing, health care, and energy bills. And, climate-fueled extreme weather disasters are driving up the cost of everything from preparation and clean-up to insurance.

Our work at GoodPower begins from a basic reality: people experience the world not in abstract numbers, but in daily life—through the bills they pay, the jobs they hold, the quality of their health, and the opportunities (or obstacles) they see in their communities. Those lived experiences shape what people worry about, what they aspire to, and what they expect from their leaders.”

While others may see roadblock after roadblock on the horizon, I see something else: the hopeful possibility that humanity will unlock the greatest economic transformation in generations. Despite federal headwinds in the US, the energy transition is moving at breakneck speed and it’s unstoppable—more than 90% of all new generation globally was renewable last year. Renewables are now the cheapest, safest, and most reliable power source in the world. Paired with complementary technologies like smart grids, batteries, EVs, and regenerative agriculture—renewables offer millions of new jobs, lower costs, energy independence, and healthier communities for our kids.

It’s not a question of if the energy transition will happen—it’s when. And, that’s where we come in. The challenge in front of us isn’t technological or even financial. It’s building the political and cultural force to make this transition fast enough to deliver full benefits. That’s our mission at GoodPower. How do we save time with communities at the forefront?

At GoodPower, we meet people where they are—rural communities, cost-conscious voters, young job seekers, hardworking farmers, even those who’ve lost hope. We focus on what matters: an economy that works for all of us and a healthier, livable planet for our kids. We call it the Good for All Economy—lower energy bills, better jobs, healthier families.

Hope is not naïve my friends—it’s the fuel of every movement that ever changed the world. The next economy won’t be built on extraction, but on imagination. And it’s not about sacrifice—it’s about opportunity multiplied.”

The funding from CO2F builds upon previous work utilizing advanced digital media tactics, evidenced-based messaging frames and rapid response creator networks to counter false narratives before they take hold. In the wake of extreme weather events, GoodPower’s messages produced an increase in belief that oil and gas companies are responsible for climate damages.

We look forward to supporting the detail-oriented and well-connected team at GoodPower as they continue to refine persuasive messages based in facts, delivered at key moments of receptivity.
