In 2024, Karen Wolfgang continued in the role of Executive Director and the Foundation welcomed a third trustee, Dr. Stephanie Moret, who joined Drs. Calvin and Graubard on the Board.
The first Grantee Summit was a great success. It took place on Tuesday, November 12 – a week after the election that deeply distressed many in our community. Participants said that they were very glad to have a place to connect after that shock, and were pleasantly surprised (some even “thrilled”) about the diversity and quality of projects the Foundation has supported. Several of the participants said they looked forward to connecting with each other separately as a result of the Summit.
At the end of 2024, many of our grants concluded:
- Conservation Biology Institute
- EcoAdapt
- Friday Harbor Laboratories
- Grist
- Montana Health Professionals for a Healthy Climate
- Point Blue
- The Conversation
- Urban Sustainability Directors Network
- Yale Program on Climate Change Communication
The following grants remained open going into the new year:
- Action for the Climate Emergency
- Environmental Defense Fund
- Oregon Environmental Council + Oregon Climate and Agriculture Network
In (very) short, 2024 was another very productive and satisfying year that simply raced by. We’re looking forward to offering a new funding opportunity in 2025, as we know that the demand for funding for climate work will only grow under the current circumstances.
